For this "Best of the Week," I'm looking at Scribd -- that YouTube for documents that may (or may not) become all the rage. You'll start seeing some ISLANDS articles available there, but for now, here's a sampling of some favorite docs.

ISLANDS contributing editor Ted Alan Stedman just finished an amazing job of enhancing the Google map of his Coast-to-Coast Walk across England. That got me thinking about all the great interactive maps the ISLANDS editors have made of our travels. Of ISLANDS' 183 maps, here are my favorite five:
1. England
Get a new appreciation of Ted's walk when you see how his route really went off the beaten path -- and sidewalk and road.

 Yes, I love my new iPhone, and yes, it’s the perfect travel companion. While no one app does everything for the island traveler (which is why ISLANDS is working on one for you), these apps below are worth installing from Apple’s App Store. And no doubt there are even better apps on the way. I check the App Store as often as possible, when I'm not on Twitter.
