Good luck with that idea on taking your boyfriend for a great island escape. You can check out ISLANDS' Jan./Feb. 2008 (http://www.zinio.com/gncissue?is=237693238&ns=usa) issue for ideas, as well as this list of romantic Caribbean rooms (http://www.islands.com/article.jsp?ID=1000057100) from our marketing partners. We're also launching discussions in this forum under our new "Romantic Retreats" category, all in anticipation of our next Romantic Escapes special issue, which will be out this January. I know that might be too late for you, Stephanie, but I hope some of those other links above work for you. Let us know where you go and how you liked the island!
Best,
Chris

Hi there,
How sweet to hear you're taking your boyfriend on a trip. Well, I wish my girlf would do the same but I know she would never. Oh, anyway, I suggest Phu Quoc Island in Vietnam. It has some of the most remoted and best beaches on the planet there. The people were very warm and friendly when I was there. Come before the other tourists rush in.

Yes, definitely, Malaysia offers some amazing island destinations. Actually, we've just created new Malaysia (http://www.islands.com/malaysia) and Penang (http://www.islands.com/penang) destination pages, and we'll be featuring Penang in our October issue. Hope that helps point you in the right direction.
Best,
Chris

Hi Stephanie. I'm sure you have been considering where to go and there are some lovely suggestions here. The truth is that there are thousands of Islands all over the world that are interesting, beautiful and romantic.
But I got a sense that you are not looking to spend too much money and perhaps your BF is not necessarily very adventurous. Are those interpretations correct?
If that is the case, and you are from the states, you might want to consider staying "local".
The barrier islands on Sanibel's Gulf Coast, Sanibel and Captiva, are very pretty and easily accessible. They offer many things to do, great restaurants and comparatively speaking, are not going to cost you a bundle to get to or have a nice place to hang out for a week.
Because I own vacation rental property on Sanibel, I started my own blog on the Island to give people a better sense of what makes it so special. Before you make your decision on where to go, maybe you would like to read my blog? It's http://sanibel-rentalsnet.blogspot.com/
Please let me know if I can be of further assistance.
Have a great vacation! Sylvia

Hi Stephanie !
Dead Sea beaches might be a good option for you. The Dead Sea air contains such a high concentration of oxygen, that you’ll notice the difference in your breathing whether you’re relaxing or engaging in sport activities.
You can relax at Ein Bokek Public beach, Ein Geidi Public beach or Hamai Zohar Public Beach. The signature element of the Dead Sea - black mud, has both cosmetic and therapeutic benefits known to cleanse and stimulate the skin. Relive muscle and emotional tension; improve blood circulation and ease rheumatic pain at Ein Geidi Spa beach. Visit Mineral Beach, which also includes a fresh water beach and public pool. Families will especially enjoy Atraktzia, a water park with fresh water pools and slides near Kalia.
Hope this will suit to your boyfriend better. Enjoy.........

if you want a Romantic place but also up for some adventure, go to Maui and stay at the Paia Inn Hotel. It is located in the small cool town of Paia and they are right on the beach. Don't even rent a car, take a cab under 10 minutes from the airport. The whole town is like a movie set and you go lots of restaurants and bars. You will love it. You can check them out at www.PaiaInn.com (http://www.PaiaInn.com).
