There is very little talk or indepth information on most of the Out Islands of the Bahamas. If you are looking for an island getaway, with beautiful white sand beaches, few tourists and wonderful island locals, check out Cat Island. There are a few websites with tidbits of information, but there is an individual site that has both a lots of pictures of the island, and a significant depth of information on the island (www.catislandboathouse.com). When you open the site, jump to "Cat Island Photographs" and then "Cat Island History, Activities" & "Maps". The island is about 49 miles long and has only a couple thousand people. No resorts, casinos, mega-hotels, chains, or T Shirt shops. If you want nightlife and throngs of tourists, Cat Island is not the place. If you want island life as it was in the Bahamas 30-40 years ago with untainted locals and secluded beaches, Cat Island is the ticket.
